Why should I buy a game that is not finished?

In exchange for your early support, you will be granted access and experiences that will NEVER be available again.

Those who support us in a later phase (i.e. crowdfunding), will only be granted access to certain beta wars and may only get access after release.  Support us now to ensure you get to go along for every step of this MegaWars journey!

What is The Wars of the Galaxies?

The War of the Galaxies is a war that takes place at the end of each season (12 months).  The best and highest ranked players over the course of the season are invited to participate in The War of the Galaxies.  Players at all levels of play (Standard and Elite) can qualify.

What is a Founder’s Skin?

A founder’s skin will be only available to those who support MegaWars during Pre-sales.  It is the skin of your ship.  Think of it as a paint job on your car at home! Your skin will follow you no matter what class or size of ship you have achieved.

What is the difference in the levels of play?

Once you have the game client, you are able to play MegaWars at two different levels: Standard and Elite.

If you choose to play at the Standard level, you are able to play in only one war per month and will have access to lower level academies.  You are able to compete fairly with others and qualify for The War of the Galaxies.  There are not any other additional costs required to play at this level.  However, at the standard level, you have the option of purchasing in-game credits and cashing them in for certain tools, or in-game extras. None of these items available for purchase will cause unbalance within the game.  A shortened example of items available for in-game purchase is listed below.

If you choose to play at the Elite level, you too can qualify for The War of the Galaxies.  At this level you are able to play in an unlimited number of wars per month.  You also have access to all academies which can help to boost your score for the end of the war.  Playing at the Elite level means that you are subscribing to MegaWars.  You can choose to subscribe monthly ($10/month) or annually ($110/year).

How do the credits work?

As mentioned above, you have the option of using credits to make in-game purchases.  Currently, credits can be purchased in bulk for as low as $0.083 each.  The current in-game redemption rate is $0.10.

Playing at the Standard level allows you to purchase the items below.  Playing at the Elite level gives you all of these as part of your subscription.

NOTE: Using credits while playing at the standard level allows the player to play only in a single war.  If they are wiped out they will not have the ability to transfer to a new war.

  • Customize Ship Tool – 20 credits
    • This tool provides the ability to customize your ship’s equipment to your specifications for the duration of this campaign.
  • Colony Management Advice – 10 credits
    • Colony Management Advice is a time saving tool that gives hints on how to set your colony’s job sectors to produce local funds for the duration of this campaign.  It is not infallible.
  • Two Extra Planet Slots – 10 credits
    • This upgrade gives you the ability to colonize two additional planets for the duration of this campaign.
  • Package: Colony Advice, Customized Ships and two extra planets -10 credits
    • For the duration of this campaign, this upgrade:  1) Gives you the ability to colonize two additional planets, 2) Access to the Colony Advice Tool, 3) Access to the Customized Ship Configuration Tool.
  •  Team Leader Option – 20 credits
    • This upgrade gives you access to tools for establishing and managing a team for the duration of the campaign.
  •  Reserved Ship Name for 6 months – 60 credits
    • This upgrade will reserve your ship name for the next 6 months so it cannot be utilized by others.
  •  Play As Core – 50 credits
    • This upgrade will allow you to play in the Core region for the duration of the campaign.  If you have any colonies established, they will be destroyed.
  •  Play As Open – 50 credits
    • This upgrade will allow you to play in the Open region for the duration of the campaign.  If you have any colonies established, they will be destroyed.
  • Scouting Tool – 15 credits
    • Upgrades the computer system to allow for more than one probe in space at a time and auto navigation while scouting a region.
  • Package: Colony Advice, Customized Ships, Scouting Tool and two extra planets – 50 credits
    • This option includes two extra planets along with the use of the colony advice, customized ship and scouting tools.

Why do pre-sales? Why not just execute a crowdfunding campaign?

The MegaWars team is working hard to bring you the very best game that we can.  We feel it is the best option, at this point, to execute a pre-sales campaign.  With the funds raised from pre-sales, we hope to be able to add some of the necessary art work and get full time resources dedicated to putting the finishing touches on the game.  Without these full time resources, it will slow our timeline down significantly.  We are an independent studio and by running the pre-sales on our own page, we are able to eliminate the “cut” that a crowdfunding platform and payment processor might take.  We want to be clear, however, that we are not against crowdfunding and may very well decide to do it at a later stage in Beta.  We want to keep our options open and think that pre-sales is a great starting point.  Besides, the rewards for support in the future will never be as lucrative as they are now so be sure to support us!

How will MegaWars benefit from a pre-sales campaign?

With the execution of a pre-sales campaign, we will be able to dedicate full time resources to finishing up the design, artwork, and other initiatives necessary to bring MegaWars to market faster!  We have an outstanding business model, plan and budget in place and are looking forward to the release of MegaWars as soon as possible.  However, we want to give you some time to have fun in Beta too!
